Take time to smell the roses

Roses have been in existence for millions of years.  First domesticated in China in 5000 BC, the rose has been the cause of famine, the symbol of war, the expression of love.

The rose is a flower of love. The world has acclaimed it for centuries. Pink roses are for love hopeful and expectant. White roses are for love dead or forsaken, but the red roses, ah the red roses are for love triumphant

What girl doesn’t like roses?  What girl wouldn’t especially love roses that you made expressly for her?

I found a lovely fall project . . . roses made out of maple leaves . . . it’s kind of leafy origami.  Kinda, but not really.

They are pretty and festive.  A bouquet of these roses would make the perfect centerpiece for a fall holiday meal or special occasion.


Select leaves that have turned to their vibrant fall colors but have not fallen from the tree . . . you want colorful leaves that are still soft and malleable.

 Fold the first leaf over in half.

 Roll leaf from end to end.

 Center the rolled leaf into another leaf that has been folded in half and wrap the out leaf around the center leaf

 Continue with another leaf or two. 

Wrap the base of the rose with string to hold it together

  Make as many roses as you want for you bouquet.  

 Add some other leaves to decorate the bouquet and wrap with ribbon or string to hold the bouquet together.

If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I'd be picking roses for a lifetime.
